Introduction

Department of chemistry is one of the oldest departments in Christ university situated in block I of the university. The department has sufficient infrastructural facilities in terms of well equipped laboratories with modern instruments and well furnished and spacious class rooms which can take care of 600 undergraduate students and 160 postgraduate students apart from the M.Phil and PhD students.

    Master of Philosophy (M. Phil.) in Chemistry

    The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) programme in Chemistry is designed primarily for teachers, researchers and post graduate students who intend to pursue higher studies in chemistry. This programme in Chemistry is conducted on a credit based system for the duration of one year, which spans into two semesters.


    The programme consists of 3 theory papers in the first semester and a
    research based project work along with submission of dissertation in the second semester.

    The theory papers include one general paper: Research Methodology and Two elective papers:

    Elective 1: Modern Methods of Chemistry (mandatory for students of all electives)

    Elective 2: Any one paper from four electives listed below:
    1. Coordination Chemistry
    2. Heterocyclic chemistry
    3. Adsorption and Catalysis
    4. Analytical Techniques for synthetic Chemistry


    The second semester includes a research based project work along with submission of dissertation. The course provides opportunities to share and disseminate research findings and innovations through seminars, conferences and publications in reputed journals.
